June 8th-12th
Monday, June 8th: Virtual meetings will be held from 10-10:30 through our usual Zoom link with the following students individually: Chloe, Andrew, Ishika, Shiven
Tuesday, June 9th: Individual driveway chats with boys will be held from 9:30-11:30 for the following students: Colton, Liam, Ethan, Samarth, Chase, Sriansh, Rudra, and Abeer.
Wednesday, June 10th: Individual driveway chats with girls will be held from 9:30-11:30 for the following students: Emily, Maria, Shreya, Viha, Neva, Ariel, and Anika
Thursday, June 11th at 10:00: Our last zoom chat- I discussed with the students what they wanted to do for our last chat. We decided that the students can wear whatever costume or dress up as they wish. We will have a scavenger hunt (they will not need anything to prepare for this) and end with a dance party.
Friday, June 12th at 1:00: End of the Year Celebration parade at the bus loop!
Season 2: Episode 4
May 26th-June 5th
Please save the following activities from the Choice Board to complete with our class. Virtual Field Day will occur during Episode 4. I will highlight a new activity from the Virtual Field Day Choice Board at the beginning of each lesson.
Tuesday, May 26th at 10:00: Favorite Color: Be prepared to form an opinion writing paragraph. Bring your writing journal and a pencil to today's meeting. Please note that this is also the day to drop your bag of 10 books you borrow from Miss Hess at Chase's house.
Wednesday, May 27th at 10:00: Graph and Story problems: We will review our favorite color writing from the day before. We will graph our favorite color, so please wear your favorite color to this meeting. We will also discuss word problems. Please bring a pencil and paper, as well as wear your favorite color.
Thursday, May 28th at 10:00: Snack Time/Cooking Lesson: (More information will be emailed out about this on Monday). We will make a homemade snack together. If you'd like to make a banana muffin, please come to the meeting with the following ingredients: a small mug, a mixing bowl, 1/2 of a very ripe banana, 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 2 tablespoons of flour, 1 teaspoon of sugar (optional but not needed), 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder, a pinch of salt, and a teaspoon of oil of your choice (optional but not needed). Some additional optional add ins will be mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, and chopped walnuts. If you do not want to make a snack, you can still watch the cooking lesson. Please also bring a pencil and a piece of paper to this lesson.
Friday, May 29th at 10:00: Stress First Aid Kit: Come to the class with a stuffed animal of your choice, paper, pencil, and crayons.
Please drop Henrico county/Rivers Edge library books at the collection box car loop at REES on Monday, June 1st. (This is library drop off and student supply pickup day for all Rivers Edge students).
Tuesday, June 2nd: at 10:00: Retell A Story: Come to the lesson prepared to discuss how we retell a story. Please bring paper and pencil.
Wednesday, June 3rd at 10:00: Mystery Lesson: This lesson will be a mystery, but is promised to be amazing! Feel free to wear a silly, fun, or crazy hat!
Thursday, June 4th at 10:00: Drawing Time: Be prepared to draw! Come to class with paper and crayons/markers.
There will be no class on Friday, June 5th as to not interfere with REES' 5th grade moving up ceremonies.

Tuesday, May 12th at 10:00: I Can Eat A Whole Plant Come to the meeting ready to learn about plants! If you have any edible parts of a plant in your home, you can have those ready to discuss. Also, please have paper, pencil, and crayons ready to go!
Wednesday, May 13th at 10:00: Pencil Measuring Prepare to learn about measurement. Please come to the meeting with a pencil and an object shorter than the pencil (ie paperclip, glue stick).
Thursday, May 14th at 10:00: Goods and Services We will learn about goods and services. Please have a pencil and paper for the meeting.
Friday, May 15th at 10:00: Book Talk Be prepared to listen and discuss a fabulous story! Let's make this a pajama party and come to the lesson in your pajamas!
Tuesday, May 19th at 10:00: Epic Illustrator Please come to the meeting with pencil, paper, and crayons.
Wednesday, May 20th at 10:00: Pushes and Pulls We will learn about pushes and pulls. Please come to the meeting with paper and a pencil.
Thursday, May 21st at 10:00: Invisible String Be ready to listen and discuss a story. Feel free to bring a stuffed animal to the meeting.
Friday, May 22nd at 10:00: Dress Up Dance Party Dress up as anything you'd like! Dress up as a book character, superhero, historical figure, in one of your sport costumes, etc. We will have a virtual dance party!

Please note that our final zoom chat for the episode will be to go over the Home Sweet Home habitat, which is their performance task for episode 2. Throughout the week, I encourage the students to read for 20 minutes and to practice math skills on Dreambox or Smarty Ants every day. I will continue to upload my daily video which can be found on the Wayside School tab. Please note that Edflix has added new features such as Family Steam, Independent Learning and Practice, Book Pics, and Social & Emotional.

Tuesday, April 28th at 10:00: Mystery Object: Please choose one object from home and have three clues about what the object looks like written ahead of time. Each student will have an opportunity to share their object and three clues.
Friday, May 1st at 10:00: Shape Art: Please come to the meeting with pieces of construction paper or magazines, scissors, and glue. We will create shape art while we talk.
Tuesday, May 5th at 10:00- We will have a class Talent Show! If you are interested in participating in the talent show, please have any materials prepared that you will need.
Friday, May 8th at 10:00: We will share the habitats created from the Home Sweet Home performance task. Please have your habitat and any facts that you'd like to share about your animal prepared ahead of time so that you can share during the meeting.

Tuesday, April 21st at 10:00 : Save the Sinking Object: I suggest having a small container of water and different items that you can test if they will sink or float.
Friday, April 24th at 10:00 Story bag: We will present our bag with 3 items to see if the students can guess the story. Please have your bag of items prepared ahead of time. If you have the book, that would be great to have with you as well.
